Mark was just 12 years old when NATO bombed his hometown of Vranje in Serbia. Now, 25 years later, he is the only one of his peers still alive; the rest succumbed to cancer. Dr. Mitrovic, who also lived through the bombings in Vranje, has lost nearly all his friends, family, and neighbours to various cancers. The use of depleted uranium shells by NATO left behind toxic dust, causing lasting harm to both people and the environment. Despite widespread evidence of its harmful effects, NATO continues to use depleted uranium shells to this day. Thousands of these shells have already exploded in Ukraine.
